Invisalign and clear aligners in Lauro de Freitas
Clear, removable aligners custom-made from a digital treatment plan. Dr. Glaucia is an Invisalign Doctor: she assesses whether aligners are right for your case and follows you through every stage.
How aligners work
Aligners are thin, clear trays that fit snugly over your teeth. Each set is shaped slightly differently from the one before, and wearing them in the planned sequence moves your teeth gradually.
Treatment stages
From first contact to the end of treatment, this is the usual path.

How aligners work
Aligners are thin, clear trays that fit snugly over your teeth. Each set is shaped slightly differently from the one before, and wearing them in the planned sequence moves your teeth gradually.
Treatment starts with a digital scan of your teeth using an iTero scanner. From that scan, Dr. Glaucia builds a digital plan that sets out the movement at each stage.
Because they are removable, aligners come out for eating and for brushing. The flip side is that results depend heavily on wearing them consistently every day.
Dr. Glaucia is an Invisalign Doctor, certified to plan and supervise treatment with Invisalign clear aligners.
Who they may suit
Many alignment problems can be treated with aligners, though not all. People who choose them often:
- Want a more discreet treatment in everyday life.
- Have crooked or crowded teeth, or gaps between them.
- Wore braces before and have noticed their teeth shifting again.
- Can commit to wearing the trays for most of the day.
- Adults, teenagers and children from age 5 can be assessed.
- Whether aligners are right for you is only confirmed at the clinical assessment, taking into account your oral health and the correction needed.

Daily routine and care
- Wear your aligners for most of the day, usually taking them out only to eat and to brush. Dr. Glaucia will tell you the exact wear time.
- Brush your teeth before putting the trays back in, so no food is trapped underneath.
- Clean your aligners every day, as instructed.
- Always keep them in their case when they are out of your mouth.
- Avoid hot or coloured drinks while wearing them.
- Only switch to the next set on the agreed date, and let the practice know if one breaks or does not fit.
Questions about Invisalign and aligners
Do aligners work for every case?
Not every case. Many can be treated with aligners, but suitability is only confirmed at the clinical assessment.
Invisalign or fixed braces: which should I choose?
Both correct the position of the teeth. Aligners are removable and more discreet but rely on daily wear; fixed braces stay on the teeth all the time. The choice depends on your case, routine and preferences, and is made with Dr. Glaucia after the assessment.
What does “Invisalign Doctor” mean?
It is a dentist certified by Align Technology, the maker of Invisalign, to plan and supervise treatment with its aligners.
Am I the right age for aligners?
Adults of any age can use them, as long as their gums and bone are healthy. Dr. Glaucia also treats teenagers and children with aligners, from age 5, when the assessment shows they are appropriate.
Are aligners purely cosmetic?
No. Beyond the smile, correction can improve how your teeth bite together and make them easier to clean. The goal of each treatment is set at the assessment.
Is my case too complex for aligners?
It depends on the correction needed. Some complex cases can be treated with aligners, while others call for fixed braces. Dr. Glaucia explains the options after the exam.
How is the scan done?
With the iTero, a digital scanner that records your teeth in 3D. The images are the basis of your digital treatment plan.
How many hours a day do I need to wear them?
Most of the day. Dr. Glaucia will tell you the exact wear time, and results depend a great deal on following it.
Does Invisalign hurt?
It is common to feel pressure or mild discomfort for the first few days of each new set, which usually eases as you adjust.
Can I eat with my aligners in?
No. Take them out to eat or to drink anything other than water, and put them back after brushing.
Will aligners affect my speech?
Your speech may change slightly for the first few days, which usually passes as you get used to them.
How long does treatment take?
It varies from person to person. A realistic estimate is only possible after diagnosis and digital planning.
How much does Invisalign cost?
The fee depends on how complex the case is and how many aligners the digital plan requires. It is presented after the assessment, together with your treatment plan.
Do you accept insurance? How can I pay?
This is a private practice and dental insurance plans are not accepted. Payment by cash, PIX or credit card, with instalments available.
Can my appointment be in English?
Yes. Dr. Glaucia sees patients in English, Portuguese and Mandarin.
Do you see patients from Salvador and Camaçari?
Yes. The practice is in Shopping Estrada do Coco, in Lauro de Freitas, close to Salvador and easy to reach along the Estrada do Coco from Camaçari.
Will I need a retainer after aligners?
Yes. At the end of treatment, a retainer helps keep your teeth in their new position. Dr. Glaucia will advise on the type and how long to wear it.
